This week in our Literacy block we are looking at Figurative Language. There is a lot of figurative language in the English language, in fact it is all around you, but you probably just haven't realised it yet!
Learning Intention: 'Recognising the use of figurative language in stories and other media, to enhance a reader's understanding of a text'
1) The first part of your task this week is to watch the Figurative Language slide-show to the left to learn more about the different types of figurative language and how to identify each one. You will need to pay particular attention to SIMILE and METAPHOR.
2) After this you should watch the Metaphor and Simile Songs.

3) Finally, time for some real work! Now that you know all about SIMILE and METAPHOR you will need to write an explanation of what each one is in your English books. You will also write at least 5 examples for each one (the video clips may help you with this part - or you can get creative and think of your own). Once you have written these into your English books, you are going to record yourself reading them into the SMULE Autorap app. When you record your voice into this app you it converts it into a rap for you! The app icon is shown on the left so that you are able to find it easier.
