Using animations to help us infer

2/9/2014

Making predictions and inferring is a crucial skill when reading and viewing texts as it helps to understand what is happening and why it is happening. To get us started with our inferencing skills this term I would like you to watch the short animation below and answer the following questions by posting a comment. If you are new to this (grade 5's) you may need to ask either a grade 6 or myself for some assistance. Please make sure that you add lots of detail to your answers as well as combining the question and answers together to form one response. Remember to answer these questions you will have to watch closely' look at the characters expressions and most of all ask yourself lots of questions...sometimes you have to piece things together to come up with a good answer! What was the problem?
How did he/she try to solve the problem?
Was he/she successful? Explain
Did he/she learn a lesson? What was it?

1. The problem was that he couldn't get any food because every time it come off the cars other creatures would come and eat it instead of him.
2. He tried to solve the problem by putting a hole in the ground so the car would go over it and the food would fall off and he'd get to eat them but every time the food fell off other creatures would eat the food.
3. He was successful at the hole but he in the end he didn't get any food at all.
4. I think he did but it didn't say but I think after the cow landed on him I think he might of decided he wasn't going to try that again.

the problem was that he tried every thing to get some food and when he did an animal came and got it first. He tried to solve the problem by making the animal's go away but every time a piece of food came a new animal would come. No he wasn't successful because he didn't eat any food but he was successful by getting the food off the trucks. He learned a lesson that you need to get to the food quicker.

(1)the problem with the gopher was that he couldn't get any vegetables because every time the truck tipped another animal would come take the vegetables.

(2)the gopher tried to get vegetables by digging a small hole in the ground so when ever a truck came passed it would drop the vegetables.

(3) the gopher wasn't successful because all the animals would come take the vegetables so in the end the gopher didn't get any!

(4) even is u don't succeed don't go crazy, like when the gopher got nothing the gopher went crazy and he ended up on the cows butt!

Q.1 The Gopher wanted the vegetables that fell out of the farmers trucks but all the other animals got them first.
Q.2 He tried solving the problem by making a hole that when the vegetables fell out of the truck they would fall
in the hole.
Q.3 No he was not successful because after the crows took all the vegetables he had a fit and smashed the sign and threw it but another truck came and it hit the sign and the cow on the truck fell of and landed on the Gopher.
Q.4 The Gopher might have learnt a lesson when he ended up on the cows but.

She didn't have food and she wanted a tomato.
She tried to dig a hole so food would fall in it.
She didn't complete what she wanted because other animals took her food.
She learnt that it takes time and she should be more patient.

That was hilarious, but sad because he got no food. He tried so hard, but every animal took his food. The really sad part was when he got sat on by a cow. This made me think of Over The Hedge because, the animals are trying to get food and the humans hurt the animals.

This video is hilarious. What I like about is that the fat animal is trying to get food, and never gets what he wants.

I feel really bad for that gopher, he seemed really hungry. I loved the how smart the gopher was to dig that hole to get the various vegetables. In the beginning I was thinking that the squirrel was going to steal all of the vegetables.

Wow, that clip was extremely funny! After I was done watching it I had to watch it again! I could not stop laughing. My favorite part was when it started raining vegetables and he got the juicy red tomato. Then the crow stole it from him. Luckily he fought it off. However the crows "posey" came back and stole all of his vegetables. That was incredibly funny one again!

I love how your school does daily five, we used to do daily five. I find this video really funny and would like to know why this is in Literacy. There are many ways to read. Do you like reading? How many hours does your school read? If our school reads 800 hours, we get a beach party! The video is hysterical!

I was reminded that not to celebrate until I know I got what I wanted. Also don't get your hopes up.
