For one of your Literacy activities this week I would like you to watch the clip below. It is a very moving short animation which has a lot of powerful messages.....if you look deeper! Make sure you are thinking and asking why? and I wonder if? as you watch.
Answer the following questions in your English books or as a comment below.
1) What was the main idea of the poster at the beginning of the clip?
2) Why do you think the film-maker chose black and white for the clip?
3) What does the boy wish for? Are these easily achievable?
4) What do you think of his father?
5) What is the main idea of the video clip?
6) What do you think the author's purpose in creating this clip might be?
7) Does this make you think of our class novel 'Wonder' and the character Auggie? Why?

1) To Advertise "Little Freak" Which Is A Event Where You Can Come And See A "Freak" Child.

2) The Reason The Film Maker Chose Black And White For The Clip Is Because It Is More Dramatic.

3) The Boy Wished To Be Normal And To Live A Normal Life Without Being The Freak Everybody Thinks He Is.

I Think The Time That This Is Set In It Can't Be Fixed, Except With Modern Medical Technology This Is Probably Achievable.

4) His Father Is Nice And Is Trying What He Can To Get Money For Himself Aswell As His Son, He Was Nice Enough To Get His Son A Slice Of Cake For His Birthday.

5) The Main Idea Of The Clip Is To Say That Not Everbody Is Normal And That It Is Not An Option To Getting Money.

6) To Say That Sometimes Dreams Won't Come True.

7) Yes It Does Because It Gave Me An Idea Of What Auggie May Feel In The Story As He Walks Into His New School.

2) The film maker chose black and white because they wanted to show that the boy was sad.
3) The boy wishes to be normal and have a normal life and yes this is achievable.
4) I think his father wasn't very supportive of his son
5) The main idea of the video clip was to show what some people look like and how sad they can be
6) The authors purpose was to give people the message and to show how some people feel if they have been bullied
7) Yes it makes me think of August because they have to deal with the same issue and they are treated the same way by other kids.

1) it is about the "little freak" and to tell people about them and to warn people.
2)I think the film maker decided to use black and white for the film because it is a sad film.
3)the boy wished he was a normal kid. They are not easily achievable because he would have to have to have surgery and I don't think a doctor would help him.
4)he's father tries to comfort him.
5)to show people aren't always normal.
6)to show people that no one is perfect.
7))yes, because both of them have something wrong with their face.

1. To show that he is in the circus and a part of the freaks.
2. It is more depressing and sad.
3. The boy wishes to be normal and ordinary but it cannot happen.
4. His father probably owns the circus and he does not know that the boy is sad about the way he looks.
5. The main idea is that a boy who is sad about how he looks wishes that he was normal.
6. He might look like the boy or he is sad for the people that have something wrong with them.
7. It does make me think of Auggie in 'Wonder' because the boy in the video has the same problem.

1.It is to show people what he looks like and what is wrong with him.
2.Because they are poor and and have no money.
3.To live better life and to look normal. He can live a normal life but he wont be able to change the way he looks
4) I think his father is trying to make his son feel better
5) I think the main idea is not to treat people based on the way they look
6) They made it to get their message across
7) Yes it does make me think of August because they both look different ad are treated differently.

Well done Lily!I agree that the father is trying to make his son feel better, but I also think that maybe the father doesn't really get that the son would feel a lot better if he let him quit the 'freak show' and just create things with his wood. I also really like your version of the main idea being 'not to treat people based on the way they look'....I think this is a really important message, don't you?

1) The main idea of the poster was to show what he looked like.
2)I think the film maker made it in black and white because it makes it look scarier
3) The boy wishes to be, look and live normally. I think this is achievable.
4) I think his father is trying to make him feel normal
5) The main idea of the video clip is to get the message out that you should always treat each other how you would like to be treated regardless of how you look.
6) I think the author wanted to get the message across.
7) Yes I think that it made me think about Auggie because they both kind of look different.

Good job Tayla...finally you got your answers done without deleting them again:) You have answered the question well, but I especially like your version of the main idea. I also think it is really important to treat each other how we would like to be treated, regardless of the way we look.

1. The poster was the first thing on the screen to tell us a bit about what the video is about.
2. I think the film maker chose black and white so the video made people think it was more sad
3. The boy wishes for a better life without other people calling him names.
4. I think his dad tries to support him but doesn't do very well.
5. The video was to get around to people that it's not nice to bully.
6. To make a strong video about bullying.
7. yes because they both get stared at and picked on.

Well done Dom...I agree that the black and white screen always seems to make things appear a little more emotional than they would if they were in colour.

Great effort Wade! I really like you ideas on what the main idea is, 'to show how sad it is for some kids who look different'. This would definitely relate to Auggie from Wonder then wouldn't it?

1) at the start of the clip the main idea of the poster was to show what he looked like.
2) l think the film maker chose black and white to make it look more scarey than it is.
3) the boy wishes for him a normal life and to look normal.
4) l think his father ls use to looking a bit weird.
5) i think the main idea was be happy with the way you look
6) i think the author purposes in creating the clip is be happy with the way you look
7) l think this clip relates to our class novel because Auggie also wishes he was normal like the little 'freak'

Great job Sam! You are right Auggie did ask his mum why he was so ugly, and told her he wished he could just be normal. Do you think that Auggie has probably accepted it a little more than what the boy in 'Little Freak' has?

You are right Ava, it would not be easily achievable for the boy to live a normal life would it. It definitely would not be easy going through life having severe visible differences to other 'normal' people. Well done.

Well done Holly. I agree he does want to be treated normally doesn't he. It is interesting that you say his father kind of treated him differently. How do you think his father treated him differently? In a good or a bad way?
