Skyping to learn about BOS and the effects of palm oil on orangutans with Tony and Dr. Jamartin5/5/2015
Last Friday we were fortunate enough to have a Skype meeting with Tony Gilding from BOS Australia, and Dr. Jamartin from the BOS care centre in Borneo, to talk about the effects of palm oil on the Orangutan population. It was fantastic to hear from experts in this field who helped to add an authentic purpose to all of the research we have been doing in the classroom. Dr. Jamartin and Tony mentioned that as soon as they looked into the baby Orangutans eyes they were hooked and knew they needed to help, I knew that there would be a few students amongst our class that would one day venture over to Borneo to get involved in the same experiences. Dr. Jamartin ran several conferences in Australia last week and this was a video that he showed at the conference.

It is so sad that the animals have to go through this.

I thought it was a very inspiring clip. The orang-utans are so cute and it is so sad that people are taking away their homes. BOS are awesome for looking after these beautiful creatures and helping them to live. I hope BOS keep doing this and one day I would love to work there!!

Tony was a great speaker on Skype and he was a awesome speaker. He knew a lot of orangutans and saved a lot of orangutans as well. It is a very sad situation that the orangutsns have to go though. I was scared because we could lose all of our orangutans in the forest and Tony told us how to get a voice out there and help the orangutans.

The BOS do such an amazing job on the orang-utans and the rain-forest. The video was very well done. I wonder if we could go on an excursion to Borneo or Sumatra. Keep up the great work BOS.

This is awesome! So glad I ran across your blog. My students have been learning about how orangutans are endangered and I would like to do the same and have them connect with a professional through Skype.
