Teacher note: The app I used to create these tutorials is called 'Explain Everything'. I have used a few other apps with similar applications, however 'Explain Everything' was more easily uploaded to youtube. What a fantastic way to provide students with an everlasting lesson that they can return to at any time!
Ok so everyone has been busy over the last few weeks working on their blogs and everyone is probably working at different levels at the moment! Because of this, as well as the fact that I am not going to be at school today when you have ICT, I have created a few tutorial videos of how to do certain things to start polishing your blogs! This way you can watch the video clips and pause them at any stage, or you can even go back and replay if you need to hear and see how to do something a second or third time. I hope that you are able to follow them ok and I look forward to hearing how you have gone with this. If you get a chance pop a comment on here to let me know whether or not the video clips were useful or not! Teacher note: The app I used to create these tutorials is called 'Explain Everything'. I have used a few other apps with similar applications, however 'Explain Everything' was more easily uploaded to youtube. What a fantastic way to provide students with an everlasting lesson that they can return to at any time! Have you used 'Explain Everything' before?

This term after having learnt all about what a blog is, how to write valuable comments and how to protect our identity online, the students in 5/6S are finally ready to embark on the journey of creating their own blogs! Though we are not ready to publish our work yet, we are doing a lot behind the scenes to make sure that when we do we are publishing work that we will be proud to share with the world. One of the first things that we did this term was to learn about what an avatar is and to understand why people use these online instead of using personal photos of themselves. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed browsing the different avatar generators that were on offer and managed to create some very original avatars. Check them out below! Here is a list of the avatar sites that we use to produce these creations: * Build your wild self * Wimp Yourself * DoppelMe * Mini-mizer * Moeruavatar * Block Head * The Hero Factory Have you used avatars before?
If you could create and avatar what would it look like? Do you think it is important to use things like avatars to help protect your online identity? Welcome back everyone to what is hopefully another exciting term filled with lots of learning, lots of laughter and loads of fun! We have started off the term with a few changes to our weekly program with PE now changed to Wednesday, while Library and Art remain on Thursdays. We also have a different look to our Literacy block having introduced a modified 'Daily 5' program to allow the students to take some ownership over their learning and to provide some choice in the learning opportunities provided. One of the activities students completed last week as an introduction to the strategies we use when reading, was to analyse and observe the teachers reading strategies...that's right, MY reading strategies! Students used running record style observations of my reading and then discussed what they we are to tell about me as a reader! Take a look at some of the observations below! Do you use The Daily 5 in your classroom?
What are the different activities you use? What is your favourite Literacy activity? Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto. |
