As one of our global awareness projects this year we are looking at the impacts of the production and use of 'palm oil'. We have watched some videos and documentaries in class and had many thoughtful discussions on this topic. We all strongly disagree with the use of non-sustainable palm oil and we are now working on identifying our suggestions for improving the situation. Last week we spent the week exploring different types of symmetry and transformations of objects. One of our class activities was to explore our school grounds and see if we could identify any object, shapes or patterns that have one or more lines of symmetry. We took photos and loaded these into the app Skitch to draw the lines of symmetry we knew. As you can see by this short Animoto video, there is plenty of symmetry in our school!
